Gear Box Issue (Please Help)

Hi all,
I picked up a 2008 Swift Sport around June/July and absolutely love it, except one thing.
The gear box, specifically 1st and 2nd, can be temperamental. Below is what i have narrowed it down too.
Any help/ thoughts would be much appreciated.

Its fine when cold not many problems just a slight resistance when going into 1st (which i believe is fairly common?)

When warm there is a little more resistance, sometimes having to grab 2nd before sliding into 1st

The main issue is when the car has been driven, lets say, spiritedly. letting it rev out more and changing gears more vigorously
After about 5 minutes of this the car will 8/10 times just completely refuse to go into 1st or 2nd. Its almost like the gear knob is blocked by something very solid. Letting my foot off the clutch and pushing it in again does nothing to help, neither does selecting another gear and then trying again. Sometimes when it is doing this i can push the leaver over the left and try and select first it will go into 3rd instead.

The strange thing to me is that it doesnt do this for any other gear, ever. So i dont believe the problem is the clutch not being separated enough, though i could be wrong.

Another point that i feel maybe worth mentioning is that the gear leaver its self has some play in it. When in gear i can wiggle it back and forth almost like its in neutral.

Im not sure whether the problem is linkage based or something else. i've read that the engine mounts can be quite sloppy which may cause a problem kind of like this in some of the newer models but im not sure if those are related to a zc31s.

Any help will be very appreciated and my apologies for the long paragraph.

Luke 🙂

Could be sloppy engine mounts or an issue with the slave cylinder. Someone on here had an issue like this and it turned out that the bracket from the slave cylinder to the release bearing had been fractured somehow.

Hmm, thats the first time i've heard that solution. Will definitely look into it.

We did find that the Slave cylinder push rod that pushes the actuating arm for the clutch was broken (they are made from some pretty rubbish plastic from factory it turns out) so we made up our own out of steel and that did provide some short term solution but the main problem has since come back worse.

Thanks
