Grouching noise when crash alert activated

Hi all
Have recently purchased a now 3 month old 24 plate Swift, done less than 1500 miles so far.
Since having when the anti crash system kicks in, there is a terrible grounching noise coming from the front left hand side of the vehicle. As this is the first car that I have had with this feature, I was wondering if this is normal or should I get in contact with the dealership where I purchased it from.
Having read some of the other posts regarding the anti crash feature, my does seem to be very sensitive regarding activating, like passing a parked car ??
Any help with this greatly appreciated
Many thanks
Mark

Chances are it's the ABS kicking in if the car is braking of its own accord

Hi Skomaz
Thanks for your reply
I think that my car has the automatic braking with the anti crash feature, but it just sounds so awful.
It frightens the life out of my passengers, they have commented about it.
I spoke to the salesman that sold me the car and he said that it depends how sensitive the radar sensors have been fitted ??
I was just wondering if this is normal with this feature.
I think that for peace of mind I will get in touch with the manufacturer and get them to have a look.
I just wanted to know if this was supposed to happen, don’t want to be fobbed off with some excuse when I’m not sure myself.

Anyway, thanks once again

Mark

Not sure exactly what you mean by a 'grouching noise', but it should be deafeningly loud beep accompanied by flashing lights on the dashboard. The auto-brakes should only kick in if absolutely necessary (I've never had it happen, so can't tell you what it's like).

As for the hypersensitivity, no that's not normal. If it's going off passing parked cars, that would suggest your camera and/or radar are misaligned, either physically or in the calibration. I would go back to the dealer and have them look at it.

Most likely the ABS kicking in. I've had it activated once on the highway, i would describe the noise as loud groaning, also good to know that the car can stop in a dime lol. Whilst the alert is quite sensitive, but the actual braking action will only trigger when the car is really close in proximity with the car in front. I'm very certain the one in Swift won't kicked in at parking speed (mine is 2021, possible they updated the system since), but the one in Lexus can trigger whilst parking, they make the same noise by the way, maximum braking force regardless of speed.

Thank you Sj000 and Reza for your responses.
I am taking my car in for its 2000 miles service on Friday so I will get them to check it out for me.
Many thanks

Hi all
Just a quick update
My swift had its 1st 2000 miles service today
I mentioned the groaning noise when the anti crash feature kicks in and they reassured me that this is meant to happen and that this is normal ????‍♂️????‍♂️
I said that it is quite harsh noise and my braking wouldn’t sound like that if I slammed on the brakes in an emergency.
They just smiled and said that this was normal.
Anyway, thanks for your help and hopefully going forward it will be ok ????????
Cheers
Mark

Hmmm, sounds like they weren't very helpful. It might well be normal for the auto-brakes to make a groaning noise, but it definitely isn't for them to be going off all the time.

Is it actually slamming on the brakes, or is it just making the noise?

Hi Sj000

If you are braking when the red alert on the dashboard and buzzer sounds then the automatic brake doesn’t seem to activate
When the auto brake comes on, it doesn’t slam on,but definitely does activate the brake

Thanks for your help Sj000

You're welcome, I guess it's your call whether it's going off frequently enough to be worth worrying about. All I can tell you is in the 2 years I've owned my car (2019 model), it's never once braked for no reason.
