Weight advantage on a smaller Intercooler so more power to weight and response is also important. I tested a larger core recently and noticed more lag than before As the tiny TD02 has to fill a massive void.

The power has nothing to do with the Intercooler the most prominent things reducing power are the Particulate filter / catalyst and the EGR introduction. And the ECU tune. Adding a Intercooler might add a little power but that is not the main restriction.
