Hi Stu and a big welcome to the SSSOC.
And regarding the key Issue, all I can suggest Is to take the fob to a main dealer and explain the problem. Because maybe the fob Is actually faulty or needs to be re-coded. Because like you've already said, you've already tried the obvious by changing both the fob and the car battery but the problem still exists.
And don't forget that the car Is now 13 years old so things can and probably will start to go wrong.
