Rear seat backrest side hinge

12

Hi all,

Could someone do me a favour please and take a look / picture of the side hinge where the rear seat backrest fits with the backrest folded?

I had to fold my rear seat backrests today to get a wheelchair in and noticed there was nothing holding the side hinge in place. The hinge pin was just fitted into a bare metal slot with nothing holding it in and no trim over it meaning the side of the backrest could be lifted up and out whilst still fixed in position in the centre.

Im therefore thinking that when the boot floor was replaced last year when someone ran into me the bodyshop have forgotten to refit something. But would like evidence first before i approach them about it.

Cheers

Could you just look at the way the other backrest is hinged, or am I missing something.

Both sides are the same and loose which doesnt seem right. I certainly dont remember them being like that previously and its the sort of thing id notice. There also seems to be some trim missing.

Hence the desire to check against someone elses car.

Below is what I have on each side with the seat backs folded. They are completely loose and easily lifted out of their slots which seems dangerous

Definitely something missing. I will go and take a picture of what i have

Yes there should be a cover that holds the hinge in place.

This was surprisingly hard to remove so they may have broken them. Either way they should have replaced them.

So really they are part of the hinge and also form a cover. Clever design I've not seen before but the repairer must have. I agree they probably broke them getting them out. Normally they would collect all the various clips, brackets etc as they disassemble and keep them safe.

Thanks all... That confirms I have at least two retainer trims missing so I'll get in touch with the bodyshop over them. However I doubt they'll still have them lying around as the repair was done 8 months ago.

It's a shame as the bodywork and paint match is very good but over time I have spotted a few trim clips missing that I've replaced myself with spares I've had in the garage but this will need the proper parts.

My guess is they weren't as thorough checking it over before they sent it back to me but they had had it about 6 weeks waiting for parts so were probably keen to get it finished and done.

Annoying but at least it won't be off the road. Are Suzuki bad when it comes to spares?

Depends... They can be very slow. Mine was initially 4 weeks wait for parts before the bodyshop took it then another 6 when they realised they needed more. But it was the boot floor, hatch, lights and bumper etc that was done. So overall two and a half months off road with me in a Hyundai i10 courtesy car...
