Servicing details, intervals ect.

I just wanted to start a bit of a general discussion regarding recommended servicing intervals ect.
Unless I'm reading it incorrectly it looks like my service manual is recommending my gear box Oil be checked (genuine Suzuki oil) every two years or eighteen thousand miles and changed every ninth thousand miles miles or ten years, am I reading this right ?

It also recommends the "Super blue" anti freeze be changed on the first occasion at ninty thousand miles or ninety six months and then every forty five thousand miles or four years ?

Just wondered what peoples thoughts are on this and what you do regarding these intervals or have I got it all wrong ?

According to that it says to change your gearbox oil every 3 years and change your coolant after 8, then every 4 years after that. Mines is the same for the 33S I'm sure...funny you should bring this up as I was looking at my book today too ?

I've always changed my gearbox oil every 3 years on my cars anyhoo. And I always change out my brake/clutch fluid every time I put pads/discs on so that gets done every 2/3 years ?

Three years is the "other than Suzuki" box oil, if you look at the guide for "Sport" and genuine Suzuki oil I'm sure it's ninety thousand or ten years ?

To be fair though there's absolutely no way the oil is staying in the box ten years.

Just out of interest does anyone know if the gearbox has a drain plug ?

Ten years!? Thats some good s**t! ?

I'll be doing mine every 3 years regardless.

The gearbox SHOULD have a drain plug and a fill plug. Finding them however...

I'm fortunate in that I have access to a ramp, a bit of detective work is called for me thinks ?

I'd like to know why Suzuki think the oil they sale last three times longer than anyone else's ?

...maybe they put the ground up remains of legendary samurai in it, who knows ?

There should be drawings of the gearbox online somewhere that will show you where the fill and drain plugs are ?

Does the book not tell you? I'm quite surprised with how detailed the owners book is, lots of good info in there on maintainance etc.

Just make sure you fill it through the right hole...I remember hearing about someone that tried to fill theirs through the flywheel inspection port...?
