Timing chain replacement?
Quote from Adam Wilson on August 20, 2022, 7:25 pmHi all
I've got a 2009 swift sport with nearly 73,000 miles on the clock.
A couple of days ago I noticed a "rattle" from the front of the engine on start up but put it down to the air con as I hadn't used it for ages.
The rattle is now noticeably worse, but I don't hear it at speed... Only really at idle or pulling away.
I'm wondering if it could be timing chain being worn/slapping. I had the car major serviced 1 years ago, interim service about 4 months ago and have only covered 6,000 miles in they time.
If the chain needs replacing, what kind of price am I looking at? Looks like the kit us just under £300... But what kind of labour cost am I looking at?
Cheers all

If you take it to a garage and they mess it up you are wrecking your engine. You could end up with a real fight on your hands. With Suzuki you are getting a warranty with the work. Sure you will save some money with your local garage but is it worth it?
