Trouble connecting phone

Hi, my Swift is from 2013 and for some reason I can't get my phone to properly connect via USB or Bluetooth. I am able to answer calls fine, but I can't transfer my phone book for some reason, any ideas why or do I have to put it in manually. I also can't play any music from my phone. This is my first car so maybe it is something obvious, but I have tried the manual and youtube and nothing has worked for me yet. If anyone has any ideas that would be great. Thanks!!

It might be to do with the phone settings, connect to the car with the phone then go to your connected device settings and check out the options in there. I've had to change stuff myself to allow access to contacts and media etc. Hope this helps.
