Upgrades for SZ-T 1.0

I’m looking to fiddle with my 1 litre pocket rocket a little, just to make it a little faster.
Don’t want a rocket ship, just a little more speed without breaking her.
Also any ideas for interior improvements welcomed

Quote from Jamie Course on July 24, 2024, 6:48 pmI've got a RamAir panel filter on order, will let you know if there's a noticeable difference when it's fitted.
Also I've toyed with the idea of a remap. Many places claim a 25 hp ISH increase and a 30lb/ft of torque increase. Infact TDI Tuning even do a tuning box that plugs in, in-between the ECU and some sensors to increase power etc.
Anyone ever used one of these tuning boxes, and are they any good?

Quote from Reza Ekarantio on July 25, 2024, 2:34 amI'm currently running RaceChip on my ZC33s. Works great, always filled up my car with 98RON as well running panel filter (HKS), able to run the most aggressive setting with no issue so far. They work, but proper ECU tune would be better.

Quote from Jamie Course on July 25, 2024, 4:35 amThey look pretty similar. HDI tuning are quoting bugger gains for the 1.0 though. But a heftier pricetag too. ????

Quote from Jamie Course on July 25, 2024, 7:13 amThe panel filter has arrived. It's not a slanted fit though. Will this still fit okay. The original paper ones are a wedge shaped filter.

Uploaded files:Quote from Jamie Course on July 26, 2024, 6:12 pmSo this morning I gave my 2017 SZ-T a service.
New Denso Power Iridium plugs, some fresh oil and filter, the ProRam panel filter and a fresh pollen filter, and an oil treatment with ZX-1 (which I swear by and truly do think makes a difference to an engine).
The NGK plugs that came out had either oil or rust seeping out of them (seen along the ceramic insulator). But otherwise looked okay. I'll stick some pictures on.
The car feels much better. Probably a result of fresh oil, new plugs and the panel filter combined.
But it feels much much better on low rev pick up, and into the mid range where the turbo starts to pick up. Overall probably no performance gain at top end. But a smoother and slightly better throttle response.
Next on the list will be brake pads and discs. Mine have started squealing a bit and feel a bit rough when coming to a stop on the brake pedal. Discs look a little thin. Will probably put some EBC Green Stuff or Yellow Stuff Pads. Either that or maybe some Mintex M1144s. Unsure on what discs to go for, I haven't seen much in he form of OE fit performance discs, so will probably just go for whatever the best make, standard discs, that fit are.

I have seen some running boxes online for a couple of hundred quid though. TDI Tuning, Bluespark Tuning, and a few other places do them.
They plug in, between a couple of sensors and the ECU to trick the ECU into providing more fuel and boost etc. Are they any good?

Quote from Moyz on July 30, 2024, 9:20 amI would never go upping the boost in a turbo car without first doing the intercooler. Most people dont have an idea of how important the intercooler is to creating power and safe running of your engine. Those boxes just crank up the boost... a result of that is hotter intake temperatures. This can lead to poor power increase and the car pulling timing and in worst case pre-detonation and destruction of the engine. With a good intercooler on, your intake air is kept nice and cold giving you more power and engine safety.

That's a bit harsh isn't it... it may be 400cc, a cylinder and 30bhp down on a Sport but it's still a cracking little car and lighter than a Sport so if the owners wants to mod it why shouldn't he spend his money on it?
