Zc33s Odd engine noise

Hey everyone,

I recently bought a manual 2021 Suzuki Swift Sport (1.4 BoosterJet, Non-Hybrid), and I’ve noticed a strange noise coming from the engine mostly when cold. It happens pretty consistently on cold starts and seems like it goes away once the oil temp reaches around 90°C.

The noise starts immediately after a cold start and is present in neutral and while revving. It lasts for 5-10 minutes of driving before disappearing completely but the car drives fine otherwise, no warning lights or performance issues that I'm aware of.

I recently had the car serviced at 50,000 km, and the mechanics at Suzuki couldn’t find any faults or errors.

I’m not very knowledgeable when it comes to cars, so I’m wondering - is this a normal sound, or could it be a sign of something I should get checked out?

I’ve attached a recording, though the noise isn’t super obvious. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Nick

The K14C sounds like a tractor engine with a spanner in the sump lol, from the vac pump to the fuel pump, it makes a racket so yours sounds normal to me

Haha, that's reassuring to hear. Thanks for the reply!

Can agree, mine also sounds the same, it is one of my main hates of the sound of the car but touch wood.. all good 🙂

Yea when I first heard it i was convinced there was something wrong with the car due to it being such an unusual sound. Glad to hear it's normal though

I don't think mine sounds as high pitched, could be your recording. But yeah when cold it does make a racket. Quite ticky.
Doesn't help that the intake wraps around the engine nearly 2 times. Would love to get more turbo/induction sounds from it.

Yea I guess it's just something I'll have to get used to. I'll probably get an intake at some point just so that it makes some nicer sounds lol
